There are a lot of car manufacturers out there, but few have the kind of pedigree or legacy that comes with the name "Jeep." As a Jeep dealer, we will always be excited about the Jeep lineup and the amazing array of vehicles that this legendary brand has to offer. But still, even if we did not sell these remarkable vehicles, the kind of performance, off-road capability, and surprising luxury you can find in the modern Jeep is enough to get anyone chomping at the bit to experience one of these models for themselves. Whether you are interested in the latest model with current features and options that you can only get in a new Jeep or want to keep a fantastic pre-owned vehicle on the road longer, we are ready to help.

Here at Randy Marion Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we believe that amazing Jeep vehicles can essentially sell themselves, so we are not here to pressure you into anything or push you toward one vehicle or another. Our job, instead, is to work for you to help you explore everything our impressive inventory of new and used Jeep models has to offer. With one of our friendly and helpful salespeople by your side, it is easy to look at different options, see what each one brings to the road (or trail), and choose the right vehicle with everything you have been looking for. Come visit us at Randy Marion CDJR today to learn more, and we will make sure you drive away in a Jeep that you love and will continue to enjoy for many years to come.

The Legacy and History of Jeep

When we talk about Jeep being something special in the auto industry, we do not just mean the incredible vehicles they make—though that is certainly part of it. In addition to these remarkable vehicles, the Jeep brand is part of a legacy that is uniquely intertwined with the history of America in the 20th Century and everything this great country stands for. The origins of the Jeep brand can be traced back to the First World War and efforts by the US Army to utilize motor vehicles along with traditional horses and cavalry. After dealing with the frustrations of trying to keep many different vehicles repaired and maintained in a warzone, the Army realized they needed a single vehicle that could go just about anywhere, which would be lightweight and easy to maintain with a single set of parts.

Following World War I, the US Army kept this idea in mind, but the actual execution of this concept did not begin until World War II started, and it seemed like it would only be a matter of time before the US was drawn into it. At that time, the Army reached out to more than 100 companies about developing a new four-wheel drive reconnaissance vehicle to serve as a military standard for wartime operations. Two companies responded to this outreach: Willys-Overland and American Bantam Car Company. In just two days, a freelance designer created a prototype for the Bantam Reconnaissance Car (BRC), meeting most of the Army's requirements.

The US Army liked it as an initial concept but felt Bantam could not produce enough of them quickly, so they provided the BRC designs to Willys-Overland and Ford, requesting they enhance the design and create something that would be ready for fast production. After further development and testing, Willys won the Army contract and their design became the basis for the original Jeep. Plans for this vehicle were provided to Ford for mass production along with Willys; Ford then added their own touches: the iconic front grille of the Jeep was a Ford design.

With everything approved and in place, both Willys and Ford began production of these Jeep vehicles for World War II: Willys Jeeps were designated as the Model MB, while Ford Jeeps were called Model GPW. The two companies proceeded to build more than 600,000 Jeeps throughout World War II, where they were deployed extensively in the European theater. These Jeep vehicles proved themselves immediately; their impressive drivetrains could go just about anywhere, while they were light enough to be easily maneuvered by a few people if they did get stuck, and working on them or making field repairs was simple.

Following the war, Allied soldiers came home and quickly discovered they missed their reliable automotive companions. Willys-Overland realized there was a market and use for Jeeps outside of military operations and began working on the first Civilian Jeep or Jeep CJ, which was released for the 1945 model year. This Jeep CJ proved an immediate success and found tremendous popularity amongst agricultural workers, industrial commercial drivers, and general use. In the following decades, the original CJ remained incredibly popular as it evolved through numerous generations, eventually leading to the modern Jeep Wrangler and a larger, more diverse lineup. Although it has changed a great deal since that original wartime vehicle, Jeep remains an iconic and essential part of the American automotive landscape.

Get to Know Jeep's Amazing Vehicles

Driving a Jeep is about more than simply getting a vehicle that can take you from one place to another; it is about being a part of something uniquely captivating in the auto industry. These are vehicles built on a legacy of going anywhere and doing anything, a legacy of persevering no matter how difficult things may become. You can see this still in the gorgeous vehicles that Jeep delivers, including a number of SUV and truck options, giving you the perfect vehicle to get you where you need to go. Jeep has continued to build on the spirit of exploration and triumph that guided its initial creation, making legendary vehicles with trail-ready designs that can take you far beyond where the pavement ends.

If you are looking for a comfortable and sophisticated SUV, then Jeep has you covered with a number of gorgeous options. The Jeep Compass is a subcompact SUV and the perfect choice if you want something on the small side; do not let that small size fool you, however, as it remains big on features with bold performance. If you want something bigger for your family, the midsize Jeep Grand Cherokee is an amazing pick that provides sleek style and elevated features inside and out. The Grand Cherokee L is a larger three-row option that is great for growing families, giving you more room inside for passengers and cargo alike.

For drivers looking to tap into the original sense of adventure that moved the hands that created the first Jeep, the Wrangler cannot be beat. This off-road SUV combines rugged design, bold performance, and incredible features inside and out to create something truly remarkable. Whether you want to get to your favorite campsite, hit the trail for a day of challenging off-roading, or remove the doors to feel the breeze while running errands around town, the Wrangler is perfect. Similarly, the Jeep Gladiator is a midsize truck with a design notably influenced by the Wrangler, giving you powerful performance, impressive towing and payload capacities, and great features to enjoy day after day.

Finally, Jeep has expanded its offerings in recent years to include one of the most luxurious and sophisticated SUVs on the market: the Wagoneer. The Jeep Wagoneer is a gorgeous vehicle with fantastic performance, innovative technology, and stunning features inside and out, creating an SUV that you have to drive to fully appreciate. For something even more luxurious, the Grand Wagoneer takes things to the next level, while L models of these two options give you a larger vehicle with more room inside. No matter what you are looking for in your next Jeep, we can help you find it and ensure you drive away in something that will reward you every time you get behind the wheel.
