Tire Service in Wilkesboro, NC - Randy Marion CDJR

Time for New Tires? Visit Your CDJR Dealership Today

Modern tires have a longer lifespan than ever before, but they will still wear down over time. Your new or used vehicle's tires are subject to abrasive and climatic damage, and this will take its toll. Worn or damaged tires can result in a flat or an accident. As your go-to CDJR dealership in Wilkesboro, NC, we'd like you to know a few signs that you may need to visit us for new tires. more Tire Bulges A bulge in your tire is a sign of trouble. The bulge is an air-filled pocket that causes a weakness in the tire. Most bulges are formed when part of your tire is pinched against a solid surface. This can happen if you accidentally bump the curb with your tire. Depending on your speed and the impact angle, that minor issue can cause a bulge. A tire bulge is dangerous, as it can burst with little warning. The air inside your tires heats up when you're driving, which increases the pressure in the tire. A bulge stretches the rubber around it slightly thinner, and this can cause a blowout. If you see a bulge in your tire, visit us immediately. We can't fix a bulge, as the tire's internal structure has been damaged, but we can replace it so you'll drive safely. Tire Cracks Rubber has a natural elasticity that makes it perfect for tires. It allows them to be strong yet flexible and durable. Unfortunately, over time rubber slowly degrades. As your tires are exposed to heat, cold, mud, and water, they slowly become less flexible. The reduced flexibility can cause slight cracks to form in the tire, particularly in the sidewall where the rubber is thinner. These cracks will slowly widen and deepen, and this will lead to problems. If a crack extends too deep into the rubber, it can cause a leak or a blowout. If your tires are cracked, we advise that you visit our service department so our expert technicians can examine them. We'll be able to give you a heads-up on their condition and replace them if necessary. Tire Vibrations If you feel vibrations when you're driving, these could be caused by worn shocks, alignment problems or a tire balance issue. They can also be caused by a damaged tire. Your tires are built in layers, and once complete, the tire is vulcanized to form a single unit. If a tire has been damaged, some of its internal layers could be separating. The movements inside the tire will cause vibrations as you drive. Internal damage isn't usually visible, but our CDJR-trained technicians can examine the tire and diagnose any potential problems. Internal tire damage can't be repaired and will gradually get worse. We'll replace your tire with a new one. If experience any tire problems, visit the friendly experts at Randy Marion CDJR.

Headlight Service in Wilkesboro, NC - Randy Marion CDJR

Getting New Headlights for Your Vehicle

Headlights are vital to the safety of you and others as you take your new or used CDJR vehicle out on the road, so it's important to know when you need to replace them. Here are a few suggestions from us over here at your local CDJR dealership in Wilkesboro, NC for how to know when it's time for new headlights. more Dimming Lights: Indication of Wear Over time, headlights can dim. This can be due to aging bulbs or clouded lenses, since the plastic lenses covering the headlights can change color or opacity with time. Dimming lights reduce your visibility and reaction time, especially at night or in foggy conditions. If you notice your lights aren't as bright as they used to be, it's time to think about replacing them. Flickering or Inconsistent Illumination: Electrical Issues Flickering headlights are often a sign of electrical problems in your vehicle. Inconsistent illumination can also be an indication of a dying bulb. It's important to get these issues checked out right away, since they can lead to complete headlight failure or worse if not addressed promptly. Uneven Lighting: Safety Hazard If one headlight is brighter than the other, it can create an uneven lighting pattern on the road. This not only affects your ability to see clearly, but can also be a distraction to other drivers. Any issues of uneven lighting need to be resolved as soon as possible, not only for your safety but also for the safety of others. Yellowed or Clouded Lenses: Reduced Visibility Plastic headlight lenses can become yellowed or clouded over time due to oxidation and exposure to the elements. This significantly reduces the effectiveness of your headlights. Replacing or restoring the lenses can dramatically improve visibility. Broken or Damaged Headlights: Immediate Attention Required Physical damage to your headlights, such as cracks or broken seals, can lead to moisture buildup and further damage. If your headlights are physically damaged, they need to be replaced immediately to maintain safety and legal compliance. Aftermarket Modifications: Ensuring Compatibility and Performance If you've made any modifications to your vehicle, it's important to ensure that the headlights are compatible and functioning correctly. Aftermarket parts can sometimes affect the vehicle's electrical system or reduce the effectiveness of the headlights. If you experience any of these signs, it's time to consider replacing your headlights. At Randy Marion CDJR, we understand the importance of maintaining your vehicle's performance and safety. Our expert technicians are here to assist you in choosing and installing the right headlights for your vehicle. Don't wait until your visibility is compromised. Contact Randy Marion CDJR today if you need any help in making sure your drive is safe and well-lit.

Tire Rotation in Wilkesboro, NC - Randy Marion CDJR

5 Benefits of Getting a Tire Rotation at Your CDJR Dealer

You're driving along comfortably, and then you notice your new or used car has started vibrating a little more than usual. Journey by journey, the vibration gets increasingly intense until smooth rides are a thing of the past. Then you realize the problem: you haven't visited our CDJR dealer in Wilkesboro, NC for a tire rotation in a long time, so now you're missing out on the benefits of getting your tires rotated regularly. more A Smoother Ride Tires that are rotated regularly deliver a ride with a lot less vibration and road noise than you'd get if you didn't rotate your tires. This is because your tires wear down evenly when you get them rotated regularly, and evenly worn tires cause less vibration and less road noise across all surfaces. That'll make your ride feel so much better, and you can relax while driving without being irritated by a lot of rumbling. A Better Handling Experience While engineering plays a huge role in how well your car handles, your tires also play a part in it. Your tires should be worn down evenly to provide the best handling experience possible. Getting regular rotations is a sure way to make sure your tire tread wears down at the same rate across all four tires. A Safer Braking Experience Your tires impact how quickly your car comes to a stop when you hit the brake pedal. If your tires have uneven tread, then it can take a little longer for your car to fully stop when you hit the brakes. A lot can happen in just a few seconds, including collisions, so it's best to make sure your car stops as quickly as possible. A Break for Your Wallet When your tire tread wears down evenly, you have to replace your tires less often. For example, because front tires wear down faster than back ones, you might find yourself having to replace your front tires much more often than your back ones. Those costs can add up pretty quickly, so prolonging the tread life of your tires by getting them rotated regularly will save you some money and make both you and your wallet much happier. A Longer Life for Other Car Components Having unevenly worn tires can put more stress on your drivetrain. This can lead to important and expensive components in your vehicle developing wear and tear faster than they would if you were driving on evenly worn tires. So, if you get your tires rotated regularly, then you'll prolong the life of various components under the hood. Is it time for your next rotation? Reserve a service appointment at Randy Marion CDJR to get your tires rotated today. We're certain you'll be very pleased with our efficient and effective service.

Battery Service in Wilkesboro, NC - Randy Marion CDJR

Does Your Vehicle Need a New Battery?

The battery in your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram model has an average lifespan of three to five years. However, factors like heat, vibration, and maintenance can impact its life. Once the battery can no longer provide the power your engine needs to run, you should replace it at your CDJR deale r ship in Wilkesboro, NC. Watch out for signs that it's time to get a new car battery from Randy Marion CDJR's service team. more Car Struggles to Start If your car strains and turns over more slowly, you could be looking at a failing battery. When the batter is on its last legs, it causes the starter to strain when turning over. You may notice a clicking or buzzing noise when you try to start the engine. This is a sign that the battery is unable to deliver enough power for ignition and should be tested and replaced. Loss of Power to the Electronics As your vehicle's battery gradually degrades and weakens, it loses its ability to hold charge. Since the battery allows electronics to function when the engine is off, a failing one will cause your systems to malfunction. Interior lights will seem dimmer than normal, and the A/C, display, and stereo will struggle to work. Your power windows and doors may seem sluggish or fail to work as well. Headlights Dim When Idling One sign your battery is on its last leg is dimming headlights when your engine is idling. When the engine is idling, your vehicle uses the battery to supply power to the electrical systems. If the battery is unable to deliver enough energy at idle, your headlights will dim and then get brighter once you step on the gas. Replace the battery before it dies on you. Bad Smell Under the Hood If you notice a distinct smell of rotten eggs when you pop the hood, have your battery tested and replaced. The lead and sulfuric acid used in batteries can produce a rotten egg odor as they corrode and leak. Battery Appears Corroded Pop your hood and inspect your battery. If you notice signs like corroded terminals, a cracked or bulging casing, or white or powdery deposits around the posts, your battery is wearing out. Your Battery Is Old Car batteries can last three to five years before needing a replacement. However, battery life can be affected by weather, driving habits, and the length of your trips. If your battery is older than three years, start planning for a new one. If you suspect your battery is failing, you should get it tested immediately. Reserve a service appointment at Randy Marion Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram to get your battery checked and replaced by our certified technicians.

Transmission Repair in Wilkesboro, NC - Randy Marion CDJR

Does Your Vehicle Need Transmission Repair?

Your CDJR model's transmission is a complex system, and even minor issues can quickly escalate into costly problems. It's crucial to act quickly at the first sign of trouble. Rely on the expert transmission repair services from the qualified service advisors at our CDJR dealer to keep your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram vehicle running like new. more Gear-Related Issues When your transmission malfunctions, you will experience various gear-related issues, such as hard shifting, slipping, vibrating, and jerking when changing gears. Manual Transmissions If your vehicle has a manual transmission, you may experience difficulty shifting into gear, miss gears, or the gears may not stay engaged. These problems could be due to low transmission fluid or an issue with the cable or shifter. Automatic Transmissions When an automatic transmission is malfunctioning, it can cause the gears to slip. Low fluid levels could result in the transmission overheating, which can lead to severe component damage. Vibrations and Jerks If you experience vibrations or your vehicle jerks forward when you shift gears, it indicates transmission issues that require attention. Transmission Fluid Problems If you find yourself refilling your transmission fluid more frequently than usual or if the fluid appears discolored and dirty, it will cause various issues that will seriously impact your transmission. Low Transmission Fluid Levels Gear shifting issues and overheating can be caused by low levels of transmission fluid, which is responsible for lubricating the transmission system and preventing friction that leads to wear. Discolored, Dirty, and Thick Transmission Fluid When the color of your transmission fluid changes from bright red to brown and is thicker in consistency, it is contaminated. The fluid has lost its ability to adequately lubricate the transmission's moving components, which will cause friction, heat, and wear. Transmission Fluid Leaks You could have a transmission fluid leak if you spot a red-colored pool underneath your car. The fluid can escape from the gasket, seals, or cooler lines and could cause your vehicle to overheat. Unfamiliar Noises Different issues can cause various sounds in both automatic and manual transmissions. Depending on the type of transmission, these sounds can be due to damage caused by the planetary gear and bearings or even low or dirty transmission fluid that fails to lubricate the components adequately. Manual Transmissions A manual transmission that's not working as it should will make awful clunking and grinding noises. Automatic Transmissions If you hear buzzing, humming, or whining sounds from your automatic transmission, there is definitely a problem. High Revs and Low Power If your engine is revving high, but your car feels sluggish, the computer could have detected a transmission problem and is reducing the power in consequence to protect your vehicle's engine. The problem could be due to low or contaminated transmission fluid, a clogged transmission filter, a worn clutch, or failing transmission components. When your transmission is on the blink, taking quick action is vital to prevent extensive damage and expensive repairs. Schedule a service appointment at Randy Marion CDJR in Wilkesboro, NC if you're struggling with transmission issues. Oil Change Service in Wilkesboro, NC - Randy Marion CDJR

Getting an Oil Change for Your Vehicle

Like other lubricants in your vehicle, motor oil will eventually degrade from exposure to the heat in your engine. When motor oil breaks down, it can no longer protect and clean your engine, which can lead to extensive damage. When your new or used vehicle need an oil change, you should schedule a service at our local CDJR dealer in Wilkesboro, NC for the best price and convenience. more There are many steps involved in changing the motor oil in your vehicle. First, a certified mechanic will drain the old oil from your engine and change your oil filter. The oil filter is a critical part of keeping dirt and other debris out of your engine, so changing this filter during your oil service is always recommended. After these two steps, new motor oil will be added to your engine. Other steps include: Air Filter Change The air filter in your engine helps filter clean air into your engine, which helps fuel burn correctly and enhances the overall performance of your car. Just like the oil filter, air filters get dirty quickly, so replacing or cleaning air filters during oil service is common. Check Fluid Levels Next, your mechanic will check the other fluid levels in your vehicle. Fluids include coolant, antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid. Each of these fluids is an essential part of your vehicle's performance capabilities. When these fluid levels are low, your car may be vulnerable to overheating, difficult handling, poor brake response, and other issues. Assess Battery and Tire Pressure Some final steps in your oil service will include assessing the health of your battery and the air pressure in your tires. A mechanic can detect early warning signs of a failing battery, such as ignition issues. Identifying poor air pressure in your tires is also important, since this impacts how hard your engine has to work to accelerate your vehicle. When Should You Schedule Oil Service at Our Service Center? The service intervals for oil service will vary depending on the make and model of your vehicle, your driving habits, road conditions, and the type of motor oil in your engine. As a rule, conventional motor oil needs to be changed more often than semisynthetic and synthetic motor oil. Driving in very hot weather, in high-traffic conditions, or on dusty roads frequently can also mean you need oil service more often. You can check your owner's manual for specific service recommendations. Without clean motor oil, your engine holds on to too much heat and generates too much friction, which can cause damage to engine components over time. To protect your engine, you should keep up with routine oil service and other preventative maintenance. Schedule your next oil service at Randy Marion CDJR.

Alternator Repair in Wilkesboro, NC - Randy Marion CDJR

Does Your Vehicle Need Alternator Repair?

You probably don't realize it, but the battery in your car isn't the thing running all of your electrical components, like your radio or windshield wipers. While your car battery is primarily used to assist with ignition, your vehicle's alternator is responsible for powering everything else. Because the alternator is so critical for your vehicle's functioning, you will need an alternator repair at your CDJR dealer in Wilkesboro, NC as soon as you notice issues. more When your alternator starts to fail, you will likely notice other systems in your vehicle failing, too. When basic features like lights, locks, windows, and air conditioning stop working, it's time to schedule service right away. Other signs that you may need to take your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram to the dealership to fix the alternator include: Dying Car Battery The charge on your battery relies on your alternator, so if you notice that your battery dies very quickly after you start your car, you probably have an alternator issue. In this scenario, the best thing to do is to have your alternator replaced. Your Jeep battery may not need to be replaced at all. Additionally, the warning light on your dashboard for the battery may turn on. Most drivers will interpret this light as a sign the car battery needs to be replaced, but the truth is that the battery warning light can turn on if there is any issue with the vehicle's electrical system. Because your alternator is so closely tied to the electrical components of your vehicle, the battery warning light may turn on when the alternator starts to fail. Burning Scent If you notice a smell like an electrical fire in your car, this is usually because the alternator has failed. When an alternator is overloaded, it tries to send the excess electrical current through wires connected to other parts of the car. This causes the wires to overheat, which is what causes the smell of an electrical fire. Loud Engine Sounds Your Jeep engine should always emit a pleasant sound, so when it starts growling loudly, there's probably a problem under the hood. Alternator failure can often lead to grinding and growling noises as the engine's bearings start to fail. Sometimes, this symptom is paired with general electrical failure in your Jeep, Dodge, Ram, or Chrysler. Unstable Headlights If your headlights are too dim or too bright, then this could be caused by an unstable electric current from the alternator. While flickering headlights are often caused by bulbs about to burn out, if your new headlights are having these issues, then the alternator is the likely cause. If the electrical components of your car start to malfunction, the root cause might be your alternator instead of your battery. To keep your car in good condition, you should schedule a repair service at Randy Marion CDJR as soon as possible.
