Full-size pickup trucks are the most popular passenger vehicles on the road today. In fact, the top three selling models are all pickup trucks. Two of those are the Ram 1500 and Chevy Silverado 1500. Each brand has pulled out the stops for the 2025 model year, with each offering drivers plenty of options such as different engines, cab styles, trim levels, drivetrains, and payload bed sizes. This lets you configure your truck to fit your personal needs. However, in comparing the two, the 2025 Ram 1500 gives you better performance at each level, as well as more advanced technology than the 2025 Silverado 1500. It is these factors that help the Ram 1500 push past the Silverado 1500.
The place to go to find a Ram 1500 for sale is Randy Marion Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. We are an authorized Ram dealer, able to help you find the 2025 Ram 1500 with the features you want so you can get the job done. Whether you plan to use your truck for work, play, or a little of both, the 2025 Ram 1500 gives you the options you need to make this truck your own.
Powering Your Drive: Engine Options
The 2025 Ram 1500 and 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 each come with a number of different engine options. While the Ram 1500 offers you three, the Silverado 1500 offers four. This is because the 2025 Silverado 1500 is available with a 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel I-6 engine, something that is not offered on the Ram 1500. However, this engine increases the MSRP on the Silverado 1500 considerably. In all other aspects, these two trucks offer engines that line up as comparable, with a base engine, a mid-level powertrain, and a high-performance engine available on many of the different trim levels.

Comparing Engine Options
Many of the 2025 Ram 1500 trims either come standard with a 3.0-liter Hurricane turbocharged I-6 engine or offer it as an available option. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Drivers will love the impeccable performance of this engine, as it can yield up to 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque.
The mid-level engine on the 2025 Silverado 1500 is a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8. This engine comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Like the Ram, drivers can opt for this engine on many lower trims, or choose a higher one with this engine as the standard powertrain. The 5.3-liter EcoTec3 produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, significantly less than the Hurricane turbo on the Ram.
The results aren’t even close. When equipped with this engine, the Ram 1500 can tow up to 11,550 pounds, compared to only 11,300 pounds on the Chevy Silverado 1500. The Ram 1500 has a better fuel efficiency rating. The EPA estimates that a rear-wheel drive Ram 1500 with the 3.0-liter engine will get 18 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway (21 MPG combined). A rear-wheel drive Silverado 1500 with the 5.3-liter V8 engine will net 16 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway (18 MPG combined).
High-Performance Engine Comparison
Each brand offers its flagship full-size truck with a high-performance engine. You’ll find that the most powerful engine on both trucks is paired with four-wheel drive, plus all the features a driver would want in a high-performance pickup truck. The 2025 Ram 1500 offers a High Output version of its Hurricane I-6 gas engine, while the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 has a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Despite its obvious size advantage, the Chevy’s high performance engine just cannot match the one on the Ram 1500. Ram’s High Output Hurricane engine delivers an incredible 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque, which is much more than the 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque on Chevy’s 6.2-liter V8.
More Standard Advanced Technology
Today’s trucks are not the utilitarian models of the past. Many feature the latest technology to keep you safe and connected wherever you go. That is certainly the case with both of these trucks. Both the 2025 Ram 1500 and the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 come with standard safety features and an infotainment system to keep you connected and entertained. However, when comparing the two, you will get more standard advanced technology features when you choose the Ram 1500.
Every Silverado 1500 truck comes with the Chevy Safety Assist suite of driver assistance features. These are the same ones that are standard on the Ram 1500. Both trucks have forward collision warning/alert that will let you know of an imminent front-end collision. They also both have an automatic emergency braking system that will engage the brakes, allowing you to take evasive action while reducing any damage caused in an accident. However, the 2025 Ram 1500 goes further by including more standard active safety features than the Chevy.
The Ram 1500 has blind spot monitoring, which will let you know if there is another vehicle traveling in your blind spot, a helpful feature for those who do a lot of highway driving. The Ram 1500 has a cross-path detection; this feature will let you know if another vehicle or a pedestrian is about to cross behind you when you have your truck in reverse. This will help you avoid a collision as well. The Ram 1500 also has standard adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go, which adjusts the speed you set when using cruise control to account for slower traffic, it will stop with traffic as well. This feature will help reduce driver fatigue on long drives. This is an optional feature on many trims of the Chevy Silverado 1500 while the Ram 1500 includes it from the start. Another great feature the Ram 1500 has standard but the Silverado 1500 has as optional is front and rear park assist. This feature provides alerts when people, vehicles, or objects are detected in front or behind your vehicle.

What About Entertainment Technology?
When you opt for the Ram 1500, you’ll enjoy the advantage of a larger, more intuitive touchscreen in your truck. Both trucks feature an infotainment system that will allow you to connect your phones using Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. However, the Ram 1500 has larger touchscreens than the Chevy Silverado 1500, which makes using it more fun than ever before. Lower trims on the Ram 1500 will have an 8.4-inch infotainment screen, with a 12-inch screen available as an option. The Silverado 1500 has a 7-inch touchscreen as its standard option. In addition, the largest screen offered by Chevy measures 13.4-inches, while you can get a 14.5-inch screen on some models of the Ram 1500. Finally, there is a 10.25-inch screen available on the Ram 1500 for the front passenger, something is not available at all on the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500.
